Your Best Self Awaits: Activate NOW

We tend to view the goal as the goal, but in God's economy, the process is the goal. It's not about what we are doing; it's about who we are becoming in the process. Who you want to be is not going to just happen. Like creating a masterpiece of a savory dish or sweet dessert, we need to be gathering the necessary ingredients and leaving out the ones that are not going to make it the best ever!
You've got the ingredients to make an awesome dinner, but if you use more salt than spices, it could ruin the dish. Same thing in your life. Not everything in moderation... Some stuff needs to be just a pinch, and others need to be added in greater quantities. Let's talk about your recipe to be your best and commit to creating something you will enjoy!
Where do you get your recipes from- Culture? Family? Religious teachings? We can think of our values as the ingredient we add to create our lives. These are personal choices, so let’s figure out what ingredients you want in order to create your Best Self. Also, Best Self words can change yearly as you consider areas that you want to improve and ones that you struggle less with. Last year, among others, I had chosen gratitude and generosity, while this year those shifted to persistence and punctuality. Hooray for improvements! My life is sweeter for having added more generosity and gratitude into the recipe of my life.
To get specific values I recommend thinking about your work ethics, or what’s important to you in relationships. For most, it might be honesty and productivity, but maybe you struggle with punctuality, or want to be more flexible. My focus in life is to increase positivity and joy no matter who I am with or what I am doing. Values like empathy, presence, energy, and positivity are the base of my recipe, but I needed to increase in some areas.
How would you be different at work if you were more persistent? Or punctual? What would have to change in your thinking or routines to make that occur? This is where the activation occurs! To change your life, you start with knowing what needs to change and then deciding one or two actions that could move you towards being that type of person. I decided to leave ten minutes earlier than I thought I would need and chose to think about other people’s time and feelings when they have to wait on me. So now what do you think you could change? Commit to making those changes this week and let me know how it increased your happiness with yourself and in your life! I love this practice because accountability creates integrity; this helps me to more fully engage in the goals I set for myself.
In my life coaching session on productivity, we dive deeper into this topic with practical applications, like clarifying your vision and block time, to activate you; rather than hoping changes happen, you plan on it! Let me know if you want to make that shift to activate your best self; you can reach me by phone or text: 980-272-8041 or drop me a private note with the email form below. You too can change your thinking and change your life!
